I’m back parents! I am doing well and growing fast, weigh 1.3 kg and measure 34 cm. You know Mom because your uterus is pressing on your stomach causing reflux. I know it’s uncomfortable, but you know that the pregnancy is progressing and it’s a temporary thing.

You are thinking about the delivery, and sometimes you dream about it. You are always worried about the pain some people have told you about. However, Dad and I will be there to help you. Your hormones are also getting ready, and you might see a yellowish liquid leak from your nipples. This is called colostrum, and it’s great for me as it’s full of antibodies. I wish I could get to it because I can already appreciate its taste and want more. My eyes are blinking in the darkness, and I am really looking forward to seeing the light and my parents!

Dad, you would like to take leave to be close to me during birth, and I can’t wait to see you. See what you can do with Mom to divide your leaves to make sure you are both with me as much as possible. Sometimes daily demands mean that decisions may not be exactly what you wanted, but do your best! I will be a good baby, I promise!

Practical Advice:

  • Mom, wear a comfortable bra to help prevent back pain.
  • Stick to a good diet, get lots of rest and exercise because you might experience more fatigue in the future.
  • Talk with your caregiver to see if you can fill out a birthing centre pre-admission form before the big day arrives. This will ease your admission and reduce stress. You can also check to see if you can do it online. Take your time when filling out all the paperwork. You will be asked questions about both of you and your insurance coverage for your stay in the hospital. Do this now before I decide it’s time to pop out!

Here are some suggestions to learn more about what’s happening to you and to help you prepare for what’s coming.
