I am pregnant and have a toothache. What should I do?
Marie, I am 16 weeks pregnant and I have to get a tooth repaired. Should I wait until after childbirth? Will it harm my baby? I am a bit scared because my gums bleed sometimes. Should I have them examined?
Thanks, Genevieve
To worry about getting a cavity fixed with a filling. However, your dentist will use a filling product that does not include mercury. Mercury can be released into your system and pass through the placenta. For your bleeding gums, this occurs frequently during pregnancy. I have written an article called Dental Care and Pregnancy that I wrote with my dentist, Simon. Please read it for more information!
