Marie, I have to get a perm and was wondering if it is dangerous given hair care products have strong odours and I am 7 weeks pregnant. Thanks for your help, Rebecca

Rebecca, you can get your perm no problem! Most products used in a hair salon (hair treatments, dyes, hair colour shampoo, perms, highlights) are safe during pregnancy.

The only concern I have is for the hairdresser, who always has to inhale these products. Over time it can lead to unpleasant symptoms such as headaches, dizziness, etc. That is why hairdressers take preventative leave when pregnant to prevent complications.
