Can my 12-month-old baby drink 2% milk?

Postnatal, Your questions

Marie, at home we drink 2% milk, and my 12-month-old baby is eating well from all food groups. I was wondering if we can use 2% milk, so we don’t always have to buy different milk for him. Thanks, Annick

Annick, I understand your point, but it’s preferable to continue with 3.25% milk at least until 2 years, and ideally up to 5 if they are within their healthy weight. Research is clear – a baby at this age needs fatty matter essential for their brain’s neurological development. After 2 years, you can give him 2% like you, but never 1% or skim. You’ll see – time will fly by!
