I’m pregnant. Should I get the flu vaccine?

Questions/answers

It’s flu season, and I am not sure if I should get the vaccine as I’m 27 weeks pregnant.

What do you think? Roxanne

Good question Roxanne. However, you shouldn’t be concerned because your pregnancy is well underway. Your baby is more mature, and there will be more side-effects for you than the baby. It’s different at the start of pregnancy. The flu vaccine is recommended during pregnancy because there are more benefits in getting it than not. Don’t forget that in the last trimester, a pregnant woman’s immune system is weaker is more exposed to infections.

You can read more about this in my article Flu and Pregnancy.
