Pregnancy and the dentist!

11-12 weeks pregnant, Health advice

Hello Marie!

I am 30 weeks pregnant and I wanted to know if it’s okay to go to the dentist for a cleaning. Should I wait until after my pregnancy? The last time I went the dentist told me I had a bit of pregnancy gingivitis.

Thanks! Stephanie

It’s fine to go to the dentist for a cleaning! Pregnant women often have gingivitis due to their increased blood volume. It’s normal that your gums will bleed a bit when your teeth get cleaned or if you use dental floss, so don’t worry!
