For a mother who needs energy: Chi-Mineral Tonic

This product is okay for pregnant women and women who just gave birth to regain strength, under advisement from a naturopath who evaluated their situation before taking it. I must never be given to babies.

If you don’t take medication, this tonic will meet your mineral needs that have been exhausted during the pregnancy and regenerate your body with physical, mental and emotional energy. Make with Chinese plants (adaptogenic herbs), it can also strengthen your immune system and prevent potential affections that are experienced when energy is low. Sleep, mood, and weight gain after childbirth can also be improved since the tonic effect also affects the glandular system for better balance.

Ideally, this product should be taken twice a day (sometimes three), varying from 15ml (1 tablespoon) to 30ml (2 tablespoons), morning and night. You can drink it directly or mix it with water or juice. It costs about $53 for a 946ml bottle. Refrigerate after opening.

For babies with digestive problems: Liquid Catnip and Fennel

Liquid catnip and fennel is a combination of two herbs that act on the child’s digestive and nervous system. Catnip is a source of vitamins A, B and C, minerals, such as magnesium, manganese, phosphorus, sodium and sulfur.

Fennel contains potassium, sulfur and sodium.

This combination promotes digestion, which soothes colic, gas, constipation, diarrhea and helps calm children. The positive effects are seen within the first days of use.

Catnip and fennel can also be used during teething or a fever, and even by the mother to increase their milk production, but only if necessary to avoid engorgements after. This product should never be used during pregnancy.

It is indicated that new mothers should take 1.25ml (1/4  teaspoon) 3 to 4 times a day in water. For the baby, a few drops, depending on their age, in their mouth before breastfeeding, or add it to their bottle. The product costs about $32 for 59ml.

This product can be given to babies being treated for reflux, as it reduces pain and helps reduce reflux. In the latter case, the combined action will not have an impact on the baby and the desired effect is often quicker.

Voila! I hope that this article has helped you understand the products that you can use for you or your baby. Alternative medications can really help soothe some symptoms, but you have to be monitored and informed by the right people. Up to you now to choose the products you want to try!
