How do I prepare my pet for the baby’s arrival?

33-34 weeks pregnant, Health advice, Postnatal, Questions/answers

I am 38 weeks pregnant and have had a cat at home for many years. He’s very gentle and has never hurt a child or visitor. I was wondering how to prepare for the return home with my baby, as I don’t want to create a storm. Do you have any suggestions, Marie?

Thanks!

Jessika

Jessika, it’s great that you are concerned about the impact of your baby’s arrival on your dear pet’s life. You have to think about and be willing to make everyone’s life easier, including your cat’s. To help you, please read an article I wrote dealing with dogs, cats and pregnancy, and one I wrote about dogs and cats and returning home with your baby. You will find practical suggestions you can start applying now, even before your labour begins.
