How do I check the temperature of the milk for my baby?

Postnatal, Your questions

Whether it’s breast milk or commercial formula, when it’s time to give baby his first bottles, parents have many questions about the temperature of the milk.

Indeed, for a baby just a few months old, it’s best to warm the milk a little before feeding, to help digestion.

Reheating a bottle

To warm your baby’s milk properly, we always recommend placing the bottle in a container of hot water, making sure to mix the milk well so that the temperature is fairly even. Then check with a few drops of milk on your inner wrist. If it doesn’t feel hot or cold, it’s ready!

Remember, the microwave is not suitable for heating a baby’s bottle.

After that, we suggest that you warm your milk for your baby’s first 6 months. From the age of 5 months, you can increasingly give your baby lukewarm milk, and at around 10 months, he’ll be able to drink it colder, like water or another liquid from the fridge.
