I am pregnant and liquid is leaking from my breasts. Should I pump it?

9-10 weeks pregnant, Health advice, Questions/answers

I am 29 weeks pregnant, and a yellowish liquid is leaking from my breasts. Should I pump it, or do nothing? I have no idea…

Excellent question! No, don’t stimulate your production now. This liquid might leak higher or lower levels at different times, but you must do nothing given you are only 29 weeks pregnant. Pumping your breasts near the end of your pregnancy helps trigger hormones that may provoke your labour. Given the pregnancy age you have right now, you don’t want to do that! Your colostrum production at this stage only means that your hormonal lactation process is already started.
