Who should I invite to my delivery?

30-31 weeks pregnant, Questions/answers

My name is Claire, and I was wondering who will be with my partner and me during labour and childbirth. I don’t know if I should invite my mother to attend. What do you think?

Claire

Hello Claire,

Deciding on who to invite to your delivery is very personal. How do you feel about your mother? Do you have a good relationship with her? You need to be very comfortable with her so that your experience is a good one. No pressure or demands. You should also check with your partner. How would he feel about his mother-in-law being there? The final decision belongs to the couple. Please read my article about a mother’s needs during labour. It might be helpful when dealing with your dilemma.
