How can I avoid heat pimples on my baby’s face?

Postnatal, Your questions

I know I shouldn’t worry, but my baby has a lot of heat pimples on his face when I breastfeed. Are there things I can do to reduce them, because while skin-to-skin is great, his face isn’t really that pretty. Ariane

Dear Ariane, you make me laugh! Heat escapes from the head, so be careful to know cover it, as well as the rest of the body. There are babies that are hotter than others. If it is very hot out, you can breastfeed them in a bath, or the pool if the baby is in the shade, or the basement where it’s cooler. You can place a sheet between the two of you to reduce body heat. If you have a fan, point it towards the wall as it will still provide air circulation.
