What do babies see at birth?

Questions/answers, Your questions

Marie, after childbirth, can my baby see me? He seems to recognise me.

Thanks, Marilyne

Marilyne, you are not the only one asking this question. Research shows that the baby’s vision is far from mature when they arrive in the outside world. This is a good thing, because they might be scared of the strange things around them at birth. Life is well designed and their vision will continue to improve up to 8-10 years of age before reaching full capacity. Don’t worry, he will be able to see you just fine before they turn eight!
