Can I go downhill skiing during my pregnancy?
I have been downhill skiing almost my whole life, and am an expert skier. But I am 13 weeks pregnant and everyone is saying I have to stop. So I was wondering if it’s risky…
Some physical activities can be risky, like downhill skiing. Even if you are an expert, there are others around you who aren’t. They may crash into you or make you fall. Your physical changes have also changed your centre of gravity and can lead to more falls. For these reasons, downhill skiing is not advised during pregnancy. But there are many other safe activities you can do while waiting to get back on the slopes after childbirth. You will find concrete examples in my article Being Active and Pregnancy.
