Marie, my friend told me I could use a TENS device to help soothe my painful back. I’m 30 weeks pregnant and was wondering if it’s safe for me and my baby.

Thanks for your help!

Jacinthe

Hello Jacinthe!

I get that your back is making you suffer! At 30 weeks, you’ve added a lot of weight! A TENS is a device that is often used in physiotherapy to soothe acute and chronic pain using transcutaneous electrical neurostimulation. This helps secrete more endorphins in the body, which is natural morphine, to help soothe individuals.

Please read my article about TENS and pregnant women where I explore the topic with professionals in the field. There’s a lot of information that can answer your question.
